Shadowpainting Techniques

Here you can find everything on the different techniques with Shadowpainting. The techniques are explained Step by step.
Technieken
 
  

 

Clip the point of the Liner -flask above the ribs


attach the End-tip and press firmly

 tape the motif and the Shadowpaper together


place it on a Lightbox


don't tape the drawing down to still turn it


trace the drawing with the Liner . 30 min. to dry.


Remove the Liner -drawing if incorrect


fix a drawn line


 temporarily close off the Liner with (very) thin wire
cleaning theEnd-tip

 

Wet the Shadowpaper with a paintbrush


Use a paintbrush and a little ink to apply a base

apply the ink against a line using brush no. 2


rinse paintbrush no. 6 and dry it a little on a tissue


use a circular motion to divide the ink over the surface


build your colour-image by repeating steps 3, 4, and 5


use a tissue to absorb superfluous ink


test your colours on a separate sheet


mix the colours on a pallet or plate
Pull the Liner from the paper like an elastic band

 

 

Working with Effectsalt

Wet the Shadowpaper


apply your colour(s) on the Shadowpaper

sprinkle some grains of Effect-Salt over the surface


let it dry for about 1 hour


after 1 hour you can use a hairdryer to dry


remove the Effect-Salt


polish the Salt-Paper with a tissue and a little oil


fixate with Shadowpainting Fixative


Use a drawing(s) to go through 1 to 7

 

 

 

 

Cutting & 3D

Draw and paint the artwork and separate parts


Cut out all the parts. Cut around the Liner

Remove the Liner


puff out the parts on either front- or backside


puff out the parts and ...


.. use a light-box and a 3D-kit to stick them together


glue down the 3D-part


 


 

 

Shadowpainting on Canvas

Apply the Shadowpainting-Primer to the canvas. 2 hours to dry


Cut out the pattern tightly

cut the pattern to the size of your canvas


stick the pattern on the back of the canvas


trace the pattern using the Liner and a lightsource


paint as on section "Painting"


remove the Liner


Use Shadowpainting Fixative as a protective layer
